Writer's Dispatch: Ghost stories & lipstick
8/1/22: We've got gigs to write about superheroes, too. It's a good week.
Do you know what happens when you throw your hat into the ring on these opportunities? Stuff happens. If you’ve got the goods, this community will get you sorted with ways to get it in front of the right people to make things happen. Make it a habit to follow up on these, and you just may see big changes.
As always, non-subscribers will only get a short preview of the New Writing Gigs section. Publication calls, literary agent requests, contest info, etc. are for subscribers only. Check it out with a free trial, if you’re curious (or, you know, want to make more money.)
Alicia Furness is seeking 1-3 sentence pitches for mystery stories for Paranormal, Inc., a tabletop RPG. Send pitches to aliciafurnessproductions@gmail.com and include the pitch, any relevant experience, and your favorite song to dance to. Seriously, don’t skip that part—not following instructions is a good way to get ignored. This is probably going to be the most unique gig this week. About $0.09/word, probably ~1800-2500 words.
Slate is hiring for six positions. These are full time positions, not freelance gigs, starting at around $60,000/year with benefits—this is a really excellent growth opportunity.
